Mr. Legault, Mr. Dubé, Mr. Girard, Ms. Lebel, For years, the people of the Outaouais region have been suffering an injustice: they do not have the same access to health care as other Quebecers. The situation has become desperate and continues to deteriorate. As reported in several media outlets recently, the system in the region is at breaking point, as we lose more and more Quebec-trained staff (imaging and laboratory technologists, clerks, nurses, respiratory therapists) to Eastern Ontario. We greatly fear for the lives of our loved ones who need care. As Quebec's fourth-largest city, this systemic problem, well known to our representatives in the National Assembly, is unacceptable. The chronic under-funding that the region is experiencing is at the root of the current crisis, creating a vicious circle with the quality and availability of care deteriorating. The main way out of this cycle is to establish wage parity (or more) with Ontario for CISSSO hospital staff, in order to stop the haemorrhaging on a permanent basis. We ask you to act urgently to protect our health and safety. In the event that this situation is not resolved quickly, we will collectively take all civic and legal measures to ensure that our region is healthy.
