For several weeks now, Health Minister Christian Dubé’s Bill 15 on the reform to create the Santé Québec agency has been under study by the parliamentary commission in Quebec City.
On August 28, parliamentarians came to the study of section 93, for which you used the SOS 07 platform to send a letter to politicians asking that fair and proportional funding for all regions of Quebec be included in the law governing Santé Québec.
After discussions and consideration of the amendment you requested, presented by André Fortin, MNA for Pontiac and seconded by Vincent Marissal of Québec Solidaire and Joël Arseneau of the Parti Québécois, parliamentarians agreed that the needs of the regions should henceforth be part of the criteria for allocating resources via section 93. Section 101 was amended to require Santé Québec to report annually on spending by region. In addition, regional consultation systems for these budgets will be introduced in the future.
You can read more about this in Justine Mercier’s article in Le Droit.
Last week, together with Équité Outaouais and Action Santé Outaouais, we sent a letter to representatives of all parties to thank them for ensuring that our regions will be adequately funded in the future.
None of this would have been possible without your participation.
Together, you sent over 10,000 e-mails to elected officials – and they counted for a lot.
You made our elected representatives and a majority government listen to reason.
This is a remarkable victory for our democracy, for our collective future as a society.
It’s YOUR victory.
We thank you sincerely for your participation and wish you healthy tomorrows!
